An Ancient Medicine
Acupuncture is ancient medicine that have been used as a health care modality for over 3,000 years. Its holistic approach can treat the symptoms and the root of disease. When there is a disharmony of the flow of “Qi”, or life energy, in the acupuncture channels in the body, an imbalance in the individual appears as what western terminology describes as “disease”. The complex theory of Chinese medicine does not label signs and symptoms as “disease”, however, but as patterns of disharmony that can be treated and restored to health. Behind its philosophy exist the view that the human body, mind, and spirit have the ability and potential to return to homeostasis and health.
Besides Acupuncture, Valerie can also incorporate other Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities such as cupping, gua sha, nutritional therapy and Qi Kung. Valerie is Reiki I & II certified. In treatment, one or more modalities can be utilized to prevent and treat many conditions such as infertility, anxiety, sciatica, hypertension, depression, dysmenorrhea, etc. The World Health Organization has also recognized Acupuncture to be proven effective in treating over 40 diseases and disorders(http://apps.who.int/medicinedocs/en/d/Js4926e/5.html). Each treatment is individualized to meet each person’s unique medical needs.
